Auction of land

A division bench of Hyderabad High Court compromising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganthan and Justice T. Rajini on Monday took on record the submission made that ₹ 10 crore has been deposited with Commissioner of Endowments towards the offer made in court regarding sale /purchase of lands belonging to Sadavarty choultry. Two weeks wre granted to deposit the remaining amount.

The bench was dealing with a PIL filed by Ramakrishna Reddy, MLA, belonging to YSRC from Mangalagiri who alleged that valuable property of the charitable institution has been knocked off in a fudged auction with the connivance of officers. The government told the court that all the procedure contemplated under law were followed and if the petitioner can get ₹ 5 crore more than ₹ 22.44 crore ( offered by the highest bidder in auction) the government will give that land to the payee. The bench had granted time for the petitioner to pay ₹ 10 crore before July 18 or get any buyer to pay that amount. The counsel for the petitioner produced the copy of receipt of payment. The counsel representing the highest bidder in the auction complained that the petitioner is getting the money pooled from benami sources and this cannot be permitted. He reminded that the petitioner had alleged that the land is worth ₹ 1,000 crore and he has to pay at least ₹ 500 crore now. The bench said that the court is interested in getting more money for the institution and if any other person comes forward with better offer the court will entertain that too. The case will be listed after two weeks for receiving the report on payment of balance of ₹ 17.44 crore.
