After an agonising 42-day wait, the family members of Dasari Srinidhi, who was washed away in the Beas river in Himachal Pradesh on June 8 along with 24 other students, were informed by the authorities that they retrieved her body.

Since June 8, the family members of Srinidhi, resident of Rekurthi on the outskirts of Karimnagar town, have been waiting to get her body. Soon after the tragedy, Srinidhi’s father D. Raja Reddy had rushed to Himachal Pradesh. After waiting there for several days, he had to return with a heavy heart as the authorities could not retrieve her body.

On Sunday, the family members were informed over the phone that Srinidhi’s body was found and would be flown to Hyderabad on Monday. It would be brought to Karimnagar to perform the last rites.
