A rare heart surgery was performed on a 45-day-old baby, a team of doctors at Care Hospital said on Thursday.

Addressing media persons, chief paediatric CT surgeon Tapan K. Dash said the 2.6-kg baby, Mohammed Abdul Qadir, was born with rare and multiple heart conditions due to which he was put on ventilation. After being brought to the hospital, the doctors decided to perform the surgery. “We have repaired the valve. It was difficult to even hold the tissue as it was soft. We added an extra patch to it to enlarge it and the hole was narrowed down. On the 11th day, the baby was ready to go home,” Dr. Dash said.
