Man arrested for cultivating ganja and selling it

A 33-year-old resident of Manikonda was found cultivating cannabis (ganja) in his house by the South Zone Task Force police at Manikonda. Syed Shahad Hussain, the accused, was caught trying to sell 8.6 kg of ganja, after which the police seized 40 pots of cannabis plants being grown on a trial basis in his house.

According to the police, Hussain was arrested near the Banjari Darwaza at Golconda. He used to procure ganja from Tandur at Rs. 3,500 per kg and sell the same at higher prices. Three months ago, he sought the help of his American friend named Garith Christopher to cultivate the same at home.

The Amberpet police took a man in custody for reportedly circulating pictures hurting religious sentiments on Whatsapp. The man was picked up after members of one community lodged a complaint with the police. Officials said that there was no disturbance in the area after the issue came to light.
