Inspector, SI suspended for not registering case

January 03, 2017 12:30 am | Updated 12:30 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Ramesh Kotwal, inspector of the Miyapur police station and sub-inspector N. Ramulu were suspended on Monday by Cyberabad Police Commissioner Sandeep Shandilya.

The policemen did not register a case though the complainant made umpteen visits to the police station for about a week stating that his house was forcibly taken over by a man named Raju, when he had taken his wife to a hospital.

The complainant, U. Venkatramana, a retired employee, had first approached the Miyapur PS on December 24 after Raju reportedly took over the house at MA Nagar under the Miyapur PS limits.

“Venkataramana took his wife to hospital as she was suffering from cancer and meanwhile Raju broke open the lock, put all of Venkatramana’s belongings in a truck and began staying in his house,” said Mr. Shandilya.

The house in question is Venkatramana’s ancestral property, said the Commissioner.

He added that Ramulu had informed the inspector about the complainant, but the inspector told him not to register a case. “This is the third such case (against the inspector) that has come to my notice. I had warned him before this and he was also issued Punishment Rules (PR) about prior incidents,” said Mr. Shandilya.

Mr. Shandilya stated that a case will be registered soon.

“At present, Venkatramana has gone back to his house, but his items are yet to be traced. We will find them once investigation is on after a case is registered, ” he added.

The incident came to the Commissioner’s notice after the complainant approached Mr. Shandilya on Tuesday.

Keesara SI suspended

In a separate incident, the sub-inspector of Keesara police station was also suspended by the Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat on December 31 for undervaluing the amount of cash stolen from a house. Vishnuwardhan Reddy, the SI, had mentioned that the amount lost was about Rs.40,000 odd, when it was more than Rs.1 lakh, said a police official.

The complainant approached the PS on December 28.
