February 01, 2017 12:27 am | Updated 12:28 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A city hotel was slapped with a heavy penalty by the GHMC officials after an assessment.

GHMC Mayor B. Rammohan on Tuesday observed water flowing on to the main road in AS Rao Nagar. Upon enquiry, it was learnt that waste water was being let out by the Swagath Grand Hotel staff. The GHMC team also blamed the damage to the roads near the hotel on their practise. The Mayor immediately enquired with the officials on the costs required to repair the roads and was given an estimation of ₹1.5 lakh. The officials were instructed to fine the hotel with the same amount. The Mayor said that water logging and damage to the roads posed a risk to the commuters.

Apart from Swagath Grand Hotel, notices were also issued to Maruti Builders and Maruthi Tent House in Kapra municipality for similar offences like dumping garbage or construction waste on the road.
