February 20, 2017 01:20 am | Updated 01:21 am IST - HYDERABAD

The Kacheguda railway station will earn a unique distinction on Monday. When passengers and visitors arrive at the station, they will have the option of buying anything on the station premises with digital money. In the entire South Central Railways zone, the Kacheguda station becomes the first to be completely digital payments-enabled station. The occasion will be marked by a function that will be held on the day.

According to SCR officials, the exercise had been undertaken with vendors being persuaded to go cashless. Every vendor on the premises would be equipped with POS machines. People were free to use their debit and credit cards to pay even double-digit amounts.

Right from eateries to newspaper stalls, all the vendors were told to let the passengers swipe their cards for purchases.
