Welcoming the incentives announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to various sections on Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party Telangana State unit has urged Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to convene a meeting of the bankers for chalking out an action plan to meet the targets set by the Prime Minister in terms of urban and rural housing and other schemes.
Party State president K. Laxman suggested that the State Government act as a bridge to effectively coordinate between the bankers and the people to ensure that the latter reaped the benefits. Bankers should proactively lend to young entrepreneurs following the incentives announced for small and medium industries sector and take steps to reduce cash transactions in line with the digital India envisaged.
“The Telangana State should become a role model for others in reducing cash transactions and enabling a cashless society,” he said. Recalling the announcements made by Mr. Modi for rural and urban poor, women, youth, small and medium enterprises, he said that close to five lakh people in the State would benefit by the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana aimed at electrification of villages across the State.
He criticised the Congress and the Left parties for trying to provoke the people against the demonetisation announced by the Prime Minister on November 8.
“Though people suffered difficulties on account of demonetisation, they observed restraint in spite of the provocations by the Congress and the Left,” he said. Stating that terrorist and extremist activities as well as corruption was on the wane after the steps like demonetisation initiated by the Centre, he advised the Opposition parties to cooperate with the Government in its efforts to make the country corruption-free.
