Manaswini, who died in a road accident while returning from Godavari Pushkaralu, gave a new lease of life to four people by donating her liver, two kidneys and heart valves. Her family decided to donate the body to a medical college as well.

The 8-year-old girl was in a car along with her family when it met with an accident near Dichpally in Nizamabad in the early hours of July 22. Her father, Gopinath, died on the spot while her mother was seriously injured. She is recovering now in a city hospital.

Manaswani was also brought to Yashoda Hospital in the city where the doctors declared that she was brain dead and her organs could be donated.

The same was informed to her grandfather who, after consulting the family members, decided to donate the organs and the body. “We decided to donate the organs to give new life to several others and also decided to donate the body to a medical college for students’ benefit,” said Venkateshwarlu, brother of Manaswani’s grandfather.

The organs were donated in the presence of Jeevandan officials and doctors from Apollo Hospitals and Gandhi Medical College.

Manaswini was studying in third standard in Presentation High School in Cheryala of Warangal district. She hails from Jammikunta in Karimnagar district.
