The Telangana government on Saturday cancelled 4,999 acres and 14 guntas of land alienated in favour of Deccan Infrastructure and Land Holdings Limited, which was established as a subsidiary of Andhra Pradesh Housing Board during Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy regime, in Medak, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy and Mahbubnagar districts.

The cancellation was made on the recommendation of the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA) following reports by Nalgonda Collector and Tahsildars of Choutuppal, Bhongir, Pochampally and Chityal that the land allotted to DILL was not utilised so far. Therefore, the proposal for resumption of land was examined by Andhra Pradesh Land Management Agency and the matter referred to government for action. The CCLA recommended resumption of land from the company, a government order said. The DILL established in 2006 and awarded land for infrastructural projects by YSR government over three years. When the issue of land deals turned controversial after the death of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, his successors K. Rosaiah and N. Kiran Kumar Reddy stopped allotting lands to the company. DILL later became defunct. The AP Housing Board enjoyed an equity of 57.44 per cent and AP government 42.56 per cent in DILL. The company was created to meet the needs of real estate sector since APHB was burdened with construction of houses for public and government buildings.
