About 500 students are expected to have qualified in the Civils Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), the first stage of the Civil Services qualifying exam.

The results were released on Friday evening.

The prelims exam was held in May and the Mains will be held in December.

Around 15,000 candidates appeared from the State this year. Trainers say the number of qualified candidates looks to be more than last year and the cut-off mark for general category is expected to be around 218 marks.

V. Gopalakrishna of Brain Tree said that this year results have been released early and candidates would get some additional time for Mains preparation.

“They will get exactly four months and this period can be used for good preparation. Questions in the Mains are likely to be issue based this year than fact-based,” he said.
