4 lakh children to get vitamin A dose

March 13, 2013 12:40 pm | Updated 01:17 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

A six-day vitamin A programme will be organised from March 18 to 23 in Ranga Reddy district during which vitamin A solution will be administered to children between nine months and five years of age, a press release from the Ranga Reddy District Medical and Health Office informed on Tuesday.

It would cover over four lakh children.

This is in view of the fact that 30 out of every 1,000 children in this age group are suffering from diseases such as colour blindness and Bitot spots, the release said.

The programme will be run in 1,937 centres across the district.

Parents visiting the centres should bring their vaccination cards along.
