4 arrested in Medipally gang-rape case

Four persons, all accused in the gang-rape case of a 21-year-old-woman, reported two days ago, were arrested by the Medipally police on Wednesday.

Immu alias Akram, Abbas, Zubair and Shahnawaz, along with Ravi, who is absconding, kidnapped the woman and took her in an autorickshaw to Narapally under Medipally police station limits and sexually assaulted her, the police said. The gang members also robbed Rs. 3,000 and a cell phone from her husband.

The woman, who is a construction worker, had come to the city along with her husband and a relative and was going to Bhongir.

Two held in precious stones’ robbery

Two persons who used pepper spray on a gemologist and robbed precious stones worth Rs. 25 lakh from him at Phoolbagh three months were arrested by the Chandrayangutta police.

T. Velangani Reddy (25) of Guntur and Ch. Karthik (22) of Khammam came to know about the gemologist, Syed Firasath Hussain, a retired water works employee, through a broker, Kranthi Kumar, the police said.

“On May 21, Velangani Reddy and Karthi went to Firasath’s house on the pretext of buying precious stones. They used pepper spray on him, took the precious stones and fled the place,” Chandrayangutta Inspector N. Rama Rao said. The police who were on the lookout for the miscreants caught them at Gulzar Houz on Monday.

Two held for filling LPG illegally

The Special Operations Team (West) of Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested two persons on the charge of illegally filling LPG cylinders and seized 178 gas cylinders from them.

The accused persons, Mahboob and Fayaz, of Shaheennagar, bought big LPG cylinders of different companies and refilled them in smaller ones with the help of gas filling pipes, Inspector J. Venkat Reddy said. Later, they sold it to customers at a higher price. The arrested persons were handed over to Pahadishareef police station for further investigation.
