Customs detain passenger bound for Dubai

In a joint operation of Hyderabad police Task Force (South) and Customs officials, currency notes of seven different countries worth ₹3.96 crore were seized after detaining two persons.

On a tip-off from the task force police, the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs Department at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad detained a passenger who was about to board Dubai-bound Emirates flight. The passenger had already got the boarding pass, having passed the Immigration and Customs counters by then.

After interrogating him, officials got back his bag which was already sent for loading as he got it checked in. Six bundles of foreign currency notes worth ₹3.96 crore were found stuffed in the bag.

Based on his confession, his associate was picked up outside the airport. Both were detained and being interrogated.
