Director General of Police Anurag Sharma has said that the State Police Department would take up recruitment of 26,000 personnel, including 8,000 women, very soon.
The DGP along with Telangana State Police Housing Corporation chairman Kolleti Damodar, TSRTC chairman S. Satyanarayana, MLCs Naradasu Laxman Rao and T. Bhanu Prasad, municipal chairman K Laxminarayana and others laid the foundation stone for the construction of new and model police station with all amenities at a cost of ₹4.5 crore at the existing Godavarikhani One Town Police Station in the district on Wednesday.
The management of Singareni Collieries Company Limited had already contributed ₹3 crore for the construction of the model police station.
Modern facilities
The proposed police station would be a three-storeyed building with a reception hall to accommodate more than 100 persons, conference hall, guest house, CCTV command control room, gym, meditation hall for police personnel, separate parking for police and visitors and other facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director General of Police said that the police department was taking all measures to ensure that there were at least 33 % women police personnel in all the police stations.
Maintaining peace
Reiterating that there would be development in the state only if there was peace and tranquilty in society, he said that the Telangana police was striving hard to ensure peace in the newly formed State.He said that they had introduced friendly-policing only to remove the fear about police among members of society.
Stating that all the dilapidated police stations would have new buildings in a phased manner, he said that the Ramagundam police commissionerate would have modern building very soon.
Police Housing Corporation Managing Director Malla Reddy, IG Nagi Reddy, DIG Ravi Varma, Commissioner of Police Vikram Jeet Duggal, DCPs Vijayender Reddy and John Wesley, ACP Sindhu Sharma and others were present.
