A total of 25 companies have evinced interest in executing the phase-III of the Krishna Drinking Water Project for which bids were opened here on Thursday. The Rs.1,670 crore project has ten packages.
The project aims at bringing an additional 90 mgd water to the city for which the HUDCO loan assistance of Rs.1,500 crore and a budgetary support of Rs.170 crore from the State government was approved.
Bidders
Some of the important bidders included Indian Hume Pipe Company, Ramky Infra, BRCCPL, IVRCL, Koya and Company Construction, Sai Sudheer Infrastructure, Bhooratnam Construction Company, Megha Engineering, DRS Infrastructure and Geomiller.
The bids were invited through e-procurement platform on September 14 and after two extensions closed on Wednesday.
The number of bidders for various packages: package I (2), package II (3), package III (2), package IV to VII (3 each), package VIII (1), package IX (3) and package X (2).
Pipeline
The project involves laying pipeline for a distance of 110 km from Kodandapur in Nalgonda to Sahebnagar in Ranga Reddy district.
The other components include construction of raw water intake-cum-pumping stations at Sunkesula in Nalgonda district, construction of treatment plants and pumping equipment at Kodandapur, Narsapally, Godakondla and a master balancing reservoir at Gungal.
10 days
The bids will be evaluated by a technical committee and then the eligible bidders will be finalised by the tender committee and thereafter price bids will be opened.
The whole process is expected to take at least ten days, an official said.
The Krishna phase III is expected to ease the vexed water problem in the city. The total allocation for drinking water needs of Hyderabad from Krishna is 16.5 tmc.
Already 11 tmc of water is being drawn through phase I and II.
Land acquired
Execution of the Krishna phase III is considered easy since land had already been acquired and designs were ready.
