Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao said that 24-hour power supply will be extended to farm sector from next summer.

The farmers will have sufficient water for their farms next year, he said. The State government had spent as much as ₹12,000 crore on power sector to supply uninterrupted quality power and in combined Medak district alone the amount spent was ₹ 1,438 crore, he added.

“In the past the people used to wait for power supply as power cuts become a regular feature. Now there are no power cuts and it is a big news if there is a power cut,” Mr. Harish Rao said addressing a gathering after laying foundation stone for 33/11 KV sub-station at Velimela in Patancheru constituency on Wednesday.

He has also laid foundation stone for sub-stations at Kollur and Kishtareddypet in addition inaugurating the sub-station at Bollaram.

Finding fault with the Congress leaders, Mr. Harish Rao said that during the Congress rule even power holidays was declared forcing many labour to lose their jobs and industries shutting down.

Municipality proposed

Participating in a programme at Bollaram, the Minister proposed to upgrade the panchayat to municipality stating that it would offer better facilities. “This will be done with your consent only. But think about this and take a decision unitedly. The population has already crossed 40,000 and it may go further and upgrading will benefit the people,” he said.

MLAs G. Mahipal Reddy, Chinta Prabhakar, MLC M. Bhoopal Reddy and others participated in the programme.
