Twenty three persons, who were caught by the traffic police in the month of August for driving vehicles without driving licenses, were punished with imprisonment of one day to four days.

Hyderabad Traffic Police Joint Commissioner V. Ravinder said that while one member was punished with four days of imprisonment, 19 others were awarded three days of jail. “These persons were caught during special drives conducted at various places in the city. They didn’t have driving licenses,” he said.

Two others were sentenced to undergo one day jail and another person was given two-day jail term. In August, 1,495 such cases were registered. The courts concerned imposed fine amounts on 792 persons.

The Joint Commissioner appealed to people not to drive vehicles without driving license and obtain them from the Road Transport Authority.
