Earlier, the trio traversed on the metro rail trains from Ameerpet to Nagole and back along with the L&TMRH and HMR security heads.

They checked the security equipment installed at various locations of the metro stations, trains and depot areas as also the functioning of baggage scanners, CCTV cameras and other surveillance equipment, safety and security gadgets.

The 360° coverage by CCTV cameras installed in the trains, platforms, concourse, ticketing areas and the locking mechanism of gates at the end of platforms which prevent intrusion into the viaduct areas and other prohibited areas were examined and analysed.

Access control mechanism, Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMD), frisking gadgets i.e., Hand Held Metal Detectors (HHMDs), the positioning of security personnel at various locations of the stations, unobtrusive watching of behaviour of passengers at vantage points etc. were discussed by the officers on the basis of security plan prepared for Hyderabad Metro Rail system by security experts headed by K.C. Reddy.

It was pointed out that the metro security wing will be systematically built up over the next one year with Quick Response Teams (QRT), Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), Dog Squad, etc. While the police assisted by the security personnel hired by HMR will take care of all offences, Law & Order police stations will provide overall security to all metro stations falling in their limits for the time being, the officials informed.
