Fourteen student protesters were taken into preventive custody at Osmania University on Tuesday. Around eight activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and six students not affiliated to any political group were detained, Osmania University police station Inspector V. Ashok Reddy said. According to Mr. Reddy, two students who were arrested and remanded on Monday were also released on Tuesday. Protests erupted after Sunday’s suicide of student E. Murali at one of the hostels. The police arrested 22 students on various charges and later remanded them.
