GHMC has set up about 120 instant repair teams to attend to damaged roads. A team has two labourers with a Tata Ace vehicle to carry material, metal, cement and sand. Repairs ranging from filling of pot holes on cement roads to repairing foot paths, kerbs, central medians and replacing manhole covers are taken up by the team.
According to GHMC, about 8250 potholes have been filled this year. The team was trained to clear fallen trees, inundation in low lying areas, and checking major water stagnations on the roads during monsoon. They are likely to be equipped with mechanical pot hole machinery to minimise inconvenience to commuters.
