In what appears to be a case of road rage, a 35-year-old personal security officer allegedly shot at a young man in Delhi Cantonment over the weekend.
It all happened around 10-30 p.m. when the four men, aged between 18 and 21 years, were driving towards Naraina from Sarojini Nagar in two motorcycles.
According to the police, the young men were driving in a zigzag manner causing inconvenience to other motorists on the road. When they reached Ring Road, the driver of a car began honking incessantly seeking right of way. The bikers, however, did not relent.
A little later, the bikers pulled up in front of the car and asked the occupants to come out. Somdev, the personal security officer-cum-driver of the car owner, came out and an argument ensued. The four men started abusing Somdev. They then pinned him down and allegedly started kicking him and hitting him with their helmets.
Somdev took out his pistol and pumped two bullets into one of the young men, later identified as Vikash, said the police.
The police reached the spot and rushed Vikash, who had sustained injuries on the shoulder and wrist, to the Army Base Hospital and then shifted him to Safdarjung Hospital.
He is reported to be out of danger and has been discharged.
Somdev was arrested at the spot and a case was subsequently registered.
The owner of the car is a Delhi-based businessman.
