Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the 22nd National Youth Festival at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti on Friday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural ceremony via video conferencing. Union Ministers Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Mahesh Sharma were also present.
Addressing the audience, Mr. Adityanath said, “If anyone wants to know about India and her culture, he has to read, know and understand Swami Vivekananda. His life is an inspiration for the youth,”
Meanwhile, several home buyers of different projects in Noida and Greater Noida staged protest against the UP government outside the festival venue after they were not allowed to enter the university to meet the Chief Minister.
According to Noida Extension Flat Owners and Members’ Association (NEFOMA) president Annu Khan, the protesters wanted to meet the Chief Minister to request him to resolve the builder-buyer issue.
‘No respite’
“Last September, Mr. Adityanath had promised that 50,000 flat buyers will get their homes in Noida and Greater Noida before December 31, 2017. When he came to Amity University last month, he went back on his promise and said 40,000 flat buyers will get their homes before December 31, 2017, and another 40,000 by March 31. However, none of the promises have been fulfilled by the UP government till date. As a result, over three lakh flat buyers continue to suffer. This, even as the government and the authorities [Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway] are doing nothing to resolve their issues,” Mr. Khan added.
Even farmers who have been protesting against land accusation tried to enter the university but were denied entry by the police.
