The State government has offered four sites for establishment of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Gujarat, with the Central team having inspected the sites offered by the State and submitted its report, noted Minister of State (Health and Family Welfare) Ashwini Kumar Choubey in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha here on Tuesday.

In Budget 2017-18, the Central government had promised two new AIIMS at Jharkhand and Gujarat.

He noted that the site in Deoghar, offered by the State government, has been finalised for establishment of an AIIMS in Jharkhand, subject to fulfilment of certain conditions.

“Commitment from the State government has been obtained. Executing agency for pre-investment activities appointed and pre-investment activities are in progress,” he noted.

In 2014-15, four new AIIMS were announced at Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Vidarbha in Maharashtra and Poorvanchal in Uttar Prades.
