A 32-year-old man and a woman were stabbed a dozen times by her uncle and brother near Dallupura in east Delhi on Friday evening. The man died on the spot, while the woman is battling for life in a hospital.

According to the police, the incident happened around 5 p.m. when the woman’s brother Shankar (22) and uncle Rinku (25) reached the location where she was meeting her cousin Dinesh (30).

The victim is survived by his wife and three children. The woman and Dinesh were allegedly having an affair for the past one year.

The accused intercepted the cab in which the victims were travelling and stabbed Dinesh multiple times till he collapsed. The woman also sustained stab wounds but was saved after a constable raised an alarm.

The police arrested Shankar and Rinku from the spot. The murder weapon, a knife, was also seized.

Case registered

The accused told the police during interrogation that they murdered Dinesh for their family’s honour.

“We have registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy against them,” said Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Yadav.

The family said the woman had fled her Patparganj home with some cash and jewellery on Monday evening. Dinesh too left home around the same time and switched off his mobile phone.

The family received a tip-off on Friday that the couple was on the way to meet someone at a house in New Ashok Nagar.
