Woman, sons held for murder

A 44-year-old woman along with her two sons has been arrested and a juvenile apprehended in connection with the murder of a travel agency owner abducted from Kabir Nagar here two months ago.

Nathuram of Kabir Nagar lodged a complaint with the police on June 10 saying that his son Keshav Gautam, who ran a travel agency, had gone to Sikandrabad in his car with a client on June 7, but did not return. The complainant added that Keshav last called his wife Sangeeta on her mobile phone at 10 p.m. the same day saying that he would return the next morning.

Scrutinising the mobile phone details of the victim and identifying a few numbers he was in touch with, the North-East Delhi police found that his last location was Bulandshahr in UP. .

The team camped at Bulandshahr for over a month and arrested one Jitender Bhatnagar alias Jitu who purportedly confessed to having committed the murder along with his brother Kaushal, friend Manoj and a juvenile.

Jitender purportedly told the police that they hatched a plan to rob a travel agency owner to make easy money. Kaushal hired Keshav to take him to Sikandrabad.

Jitender and Manoj joined them at Hapur and the juvenile at Sikandrabad. The four then allegedly strangled Keshav and took the body to a brick kiln where Jitender's mother Seema works.

Along with Seema and a labourer they burnt the body in the kiln.
