A 22-year-old woman working with an IT company was allegedly killed and her friend critically injured after their car crashed into a roundabout at Azadpur terminal in north-west Delhi on Monday morning, the police said.

DCP (North-West) Aslam Khan said the car was being driven by the woman’s friend, who was drunk.

The two were headed towards a convenience store after attending a friend’s birthday party in Mukherjee Nagar. “A call was received at 4.40 a.m. regarding the accident. A sedan was found at the spot,” said Ms. Khan.

The police said two injured persons were found inside the car.

They were rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared the woman dead on admission.

The woman was identified as Rhythms, a resident of Sunder Vihar in west Delhi. Her friend has been identified as Rohan (24).

Eyewitnesses told the police that the car was being driven at over 100 kmph.

“It is a case of drunken driving. The driver probably lost control of the vehicle and hit the roundabout,” said a police officer. The families have been informed and a case has been registered.
