A 26-year-old woman fell out of an auto-rickshaw while trying to fight off robbers in south-east Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar on Sunday.
The victim, who works at a private bank, suffered injuries on her jaws, face and abdomen.
Her family said she had gone to Maharani Bagh to buy a mobile phone and was returning home in Malviya Nagar in an auto-rickshaw around 9.30 p.m. when the incident happened.
‘Victim dragged on road’
When she reached the Lajpat Nagar flyover, two men on a motorcycle tried to snatch her bag.
She, however, tried to pull it away from the bikers. In the process, she fell out of the vehicle and got dragged for a few meters.
The accused, however, managed to flee with her bag.
The auto-rickshaw driver took her to a relative’s house in Munirka, from where she was taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre.
The police were also informed.
Phone, cash stolen
The woman said her bag contained an iPhone and ₹2,000, which she had withdrawn from an ATM in Maharani Bagh. She said the accused had been following her since then.
The police are scanning CCTV footage to identify the snatchers.
Meanwhile, the victim’s cousin alleged that the AIIMS Trauma Centre provided her only first-aid despite she bleeding profusely and complaining of pain.
