Alleging that the changes in the Civil Services examinations were discriminatory for students coming with a Hindi background and other Indian languages, aspirants of these services sat on a dharna outside the Race Course Road metro station on Wednesday, after they were stopped from sitting outside the Prime Minister’s residence.
“We staged several protests during the Congress Government’s reign but received no relief. We are hoping that the Narendra Modi Government would listen to us,” said Vikash Kumar, an aspirant.
“In the recent results only three per cent of the candidates are from Hindi medium. This proves that 66.67 per cent of the syllabus which was changed in the preliminary exam and the 57 per cent change in the Mains exam was discriminatory for students having Hindi or other Indian regional languages as their medium,” said Abhishek Kumar, a protester.
They also said that the previous government’s grant of two additional attempts as well as two year’s relaxation cannot benefit students who were caught in the transition phase in 2011.
