With more Indian Institute of Technologies and Indian Institute of Managements being proposed in the Union Budget, students were happy as now there would be a greater chance to get into these ace institutes, admissions to which guarantees a pathway to the best employers in the country and abroad.
Professors associated with such institutes for many years also welcomed this initiative and said that this opened up more opportunities for the young.
“The salaries of the faculty and other day-to-day functioning is funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The other research and development funds come from other agencies like Defence, Department of Biotechnology and others who are interested in the research of our faculty and students,” said IIT -Delhi director R.K. Shevgaonkar.
“I almost made it to an IIT some years ago and am sure that if there were some more institutes then, I would have surely secured a seat. Unfortunately, I had to go abroad for my studies,” said Radhika Surya.
