A Delhi Police head constable deployed for Union Minister Uma Bharti’s security allegedly shot himself to death at her official residence in Akbar Road here late on Sunday night.
Brijpal was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here where he died.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police-I (New Delhi) Romil Baniya confirmed the incident, which took place at 6 Akbar Road.
However, the exact sequence of events or what prompted the head constable to take the alleged step is not clear.
Alarm raisedA fellow policeman saw him using his service revolver to shoot himself and raised an alarm. Soon, other security personnel reached the spot and rushed him to the hospital, where he died.
Brijpal was posted in the security unit of the Delhi Police.
