The Ghaziabad police took two boys into custody late on Wednesday night for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old student. The police said that one of the boys is the victim’s classmate while the other is his friend.

Over a month

The girl is from a locality under the Sahibabad police station in Ghaziabad. In her FIR, she has alleged that the boys had been molesting her for over a month due to which she missed her social studies and arts examinations. The girl had also claimed that the two boys were forcing and threatening her to convert to their religion. Since the incident came to light, members of a religious outfit have also expressed support for the girl.

According to Anoop Singh, deputy superintendent of police in Ghaziabad, “We have taken both the minors into custody and will follow legal procedure.”

Victim followed

The victim, in her complaint, said that they used to follow her on a motorbike and touch her inappropriately while going to school and tuition. Initially, the victim did not tell her parents but one of her friends advised her to share the incident with my parents.

Acting on the girl’s complaint, an FIR was lodged in Ghaziabad police station under IPC sections for outraging the modesty of women, sexual harassment, assault or use of criminal force on woman with intent to disrobe, criminal intimidation and also under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The accused, who is also the girl’s classmate, was expelled from the school on Wednesday after the FIR was filed. The school principal said he took action after the girl complained against him.
