A 20-year-old hairstylist and his teenaged friend have been arrested for allegedly abducting, sexually assaulting and murdering two minor siblings and raping another toddler in the trans-Yamuna area this past month within a span of two days.

The siblings -- the boy aged five years and the girl aged three years -- were abducted from Khajuri Khas on September 25, sexually assaulted and murdered. On September 26, a three-year-old girl was kidnapped from Bhajanpura and dumped at a “dhalao” after being raped.

Taking up investigation into the gang-rape of the minor girl, a team under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Gokalpuri ) found that a young man had made attempts to abduct a seven-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy on September 26 night, but was not successful. Based on the description given by the girl and the boy, the police prepared the portrait of the suspect and rounded up 52 people for questioning. The police then zeroed in on Mohammad Sadab, a resident of Jaiprakash Mohalla in Usmanpur and arrested him at a liquor shop near Khajuri Chowk on October 1.Sadab, a hair-stylist, initially tried to mislead the police, but purportedly confessed to his involvement in the crime during sustained interrogation. He also disclosed the name of his accomplice as Mohammad Mia who was also arrested the same day.

It was revealed during their interrogation that Sadab abducted the victim at Gamri Extension on September 26 night and brought her to Mia who was waiting for him near a “nullah”. The two then took the girl to a nearby forest and allegedly raped her. She was later found dumped at a “dhalao”.

Mia, a resident of Khajuir Khas, also purportedly confessed to having abducted the two minor siblings along with his accomplice Irfan and murdered them after sexually assaulting them.
