Two persons have been arrested and two minors apprehended for allegedly stabbing a truck driver to death when he stopped to ask for directions near Bhalaswa Dairy flyover on Wednesday. Two others are absconding, the police said on Friday.

Maan Singh, a native of Jammu, was crossing the flyover and had stopped to ask for directions from another driver on his way to Chandigarh. “Six bike-borne robbers were lurking near the flyover. They saw Mr. Singh as easy prey and attacked him to rob him,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) Aslam Khan.

The police said there was a scuffle when the victim resisted and one of the accused stabbed the driver multiple times before all of them fled the spot. Meanwhile, Mr. Singh was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Ms. Khan said that the two men arrested have been identified as Ankit and Shahrukh. “With their arrest, a total of seven cases have been solved. We have recovered four motorcycles and four mobile phones, which suspected to be stolen,” she added.
