The Delhi BJP on Tuesday said that its president, Manoj Tiwari, had written to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) proposing further amendments to certain clauses under the Delhi Master Plan 2021.

In a bid to provide recognition to people running small-scale businesses, Mr. Tiwari proposed that all non-polluting units employing at least 10 labourers with 11 kW power connections should be included under the definition of a household industry.

Expand definition

“There has been technical advancement in the household industry sector, which employs lakhs of people and thus it is time we amend the concerned clause in the master plan. All non-polluting units employing 10 labourers with 11 kW power connections should be included in household industries definition under the purview of clause 7.4 of the master plan,” the Delhi BJP said in a statement, referring to the letter sent to DDA by Mr. Tiwari.

Further, the Delhi BJP said that Mr. Tiwari had highlighted the fact that in several areas of Delhi, including Seelampur, Mukundpur, Sultanpuri and Mangolpuri, people were running tailoring, hosiery and packing units, among other businesses.

The DDA has extended the time period for public hearing regarding proposed amendments to the master plan till Wednesday 6 p.m.
