Handicrafts by artisans from Tibet, like rugs, singing bowls, ritual objects and antiques, will be a special feature of the annual fortnightly crafts exhibition or the Dastkari Haat Bazaar at Dilli Haat, at INA here, from January 1 onwards.
The Dastkari Haat Samiti, which is organising this bazaar for the 29 time, said the items on sale will be some of the best products by Indian and Tibetan artistans.
Other offerings from around the country will include ornamental ceramic pottery, copper items, and Paithani and Puneri handloom items from Maharashtra; wood carvings, paintings and baskets from Arunachal Pradesh; bamboo baskets from Jharkhand; Ajrakh prints from Kutch; Chanderi and Maheshwari saris in brilliant hues and contemporary blockprints from Rajasthan; and ethnic silver jewellery from Odisha.
The special feature every year is a workshop by international artisans. This time, craftspersons from Tibetan will engage in work with their counterparts from Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
Visitors will also be treated to traditional music and dance. Traditional Ramdev folk singers from Kutch, Chhau dancers from Jharkhand and traditional dances of Tibet will perform.
