An 18-year-old and his two juvenile friends have been arrested for allegedly molesting a pregnant woman from Myanmar, and later roughing up both her husband and her for protesting.

In her complaint, the victim told the police that the accused tried to touch her inappropriately. She also alleged that the accused hit her on the head with a brick when she was walking with her husband.

Husband chased trio

It was also alleged that the trio tried to drive away from the spot. One of them, however, was chased down by the woman’s husband, who dragged him to the police station that was close to the spot.

Based on the couple’s statement, a case was registered under sections 354 (assault is criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC at the Dabri police station.

Police said the other two accused were apprehended later.

The woman, who feared complications with her pregnancy, was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhaya hospital where she was declared stable. Forced to migrate to India, the woman has been living here since 2009. She reportedly told the police that one of her sisters had also faced a similar situation in the past.
