President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the Annual Innovation Exhibition at Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Friday. The exhibition, being organised by the National Innovation Foundation-India, will be open to the public from March 7-13.
The President went around interacting with each exhibitor. Mr. Mukherjee listened attentively as Odisha-based innovator Jeetendra explained how his motorcycle will not start unless the rider wears a helmet.
Madhya Pradesh resident Roshanlal Vishwakarma has developed a sugarcane bud planter/chipper, comprising a semi circular blade, linkage system and a handle, to prevent sugarcane wastage.
“On pressing the handle, the unit removes the bud from the node. It is then used for planting. A tractor-operated sugarcane bud plaster has been produced to reduce the cost to Rs.800 per acre from Rs.6,000 per acre.”
Imagine a refrigerator that runs without electricity and keeps groceries and fruits fresh for eight to 10 days. Unimaginable, but Mansukhbhai Prajapati has invented one. “It keeps eatables fresh and is useful for villagers,” he added.
