A 45-year-old woman and her two sons fell off a moving bike after they were allegedly targeted by motorcycle-borne snatchers in north Delhi on Tuesday afternoon.

The woman alleged that the snatchers made off with her purse that had gold items and cash worth nearly ₹75,000.

Gulzar Saifi and her two sons sustained injuries after the accused kicked their motorcycle near Geeta Colony flyover, the police said, adding that Ms. Saifi is out of danger.

“I was on the way home with my sons Abdullah [24] and Ubedullah [15] when two men on a motorcycle intercepted our bike around 12.15 p.m. The pillion rider kicked the motorcycle and we fell. The pillion rider got off the bike and snatched my purse before fleeing the spot,” she said.

The victim’s elder son added, “She fell unconscious from the impact. We called the police and took her to a hospital. My brother and I suffered scratches on the legs and were discharged after first aid.”

The police have registered a case of robbery and efforts are on to trace the suspects. They are scanning footage from CCTV cameras installed on the possible routes taken by the snatchers.

“We have formed several teams and are scanning CCTV footage from the area. We will identify and arrest the suspects soon,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Jatin Narwal.
