Suspects in the case of the alleged murder of a Manipuri man here, have been identified and hunt is on to nab them, a Delhi senior police official said on Monday. According to the police Shaloni who was in his late twenties, was allegedly beaten to death by a group of five to six men during the early hours of Monday in Kotla Mubarakpur area of South Delhi.
According to police officials Kiran Rijiju, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, is likely to visit the spot.
Shaloni was returning from a friend’s place in Kotla Mubarakpur early this morning when a group of 5 to 6 men arrived at the spot by car and attacked him, the police said. He was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre where he succumbed to injuries, police said.
Earlier during the day, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) B. S. Jaiswal confirmed that during the assault there was no provocation from the part of the deceased. He also pointed out that a case has been registered. “We have registered a case and have initiated our investigation. According to our reports Shaloni was attacked by five to six men. Importantly, there was no provocation from the part of the deceased during the assault,” Mr. Jaisawal added. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Shaloni lived in Munirka area of South Delhi.
