Overwhelming support has poured in for the young victim in the stalking case that involves Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala's son Vikas and his friend Ashish, with over 4,000 likes and 2,000 shares and comments for her Facebook post recalling the horrific experience.

Call for strict action

The comments, including those made by her friends and acquaintances, have expressed shock over the alleged stalking that took place in Chandigarh. Many of them praised her “quick thinking” and demanded strict punishment for the accused. “Omg proud of you girl..But take them to task ,” read a post. “Alchohol Money Power Runs on Indians Wanna Be Youngster. Their photo should be published on every newspaper as harasser,” said one of the posts seeking to publicly shame the accused.

The complainant — a disc jockey — in her Facebook post wrote: “My hands shaking, my back spasming from fear, half in tears, half bewildered, because I didn't know if I'd make it home tonight. Who knew when, or if, the cops would show up.”

She added: “I find it shocking, that in a place with cameras at every light and cops every 200 m, these boys thought they could either get into my car, or take me into theirs, just because they're from an influential background.” The last few lines of her post read: “I'm also lucky, because I'm not lying raped and murdered in a ditch somewhere”.

Father’s post

Reacting to the chilling details, a comment read: “My! I've got goosebumps reading ur post. Am so glad u are safe, but this is super scary.” Another post said: “I was shaking the entire time I was reading your narration. I'm so glad you are safe now. It must have taken tremendous presence of mind to tackle a situation like that... take care, you.”

The complainant’s father, an Additional Chief Secretary in Haryana government, also wrote on his Facebook wall about the incident and got huge support as well. “I am sharing this with you all for two reasons. One, to give a true and clear picture of what happened. Two, to get some assurance of support in case it’s needed... However, I know that the trauma and hurt my daughter has undergone cannot be undone. If we do not persist in trying to bring the guilty to justice, more and more daughters will suffer this hurt. Maybe some may not be as lucky as she. Someone has to stand up. We are standing. So long as we can,” the post said.

Some posts tried to malign her reputation by alleging that she was drunk at the time of the incident and also posted her pictures with some male friends.
