March 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Delhi Government will shortly start a graduation degree in sports to encourage budding sportspersons to pursue their career without suffering in academics. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said here on Monday that a proposal to include sports in the school curriculum was also in the final stage.

Mr. Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, said at a badminton awards ceremony organised by a public sector bank here that the inclusion of sports in the school courses would ensure all round development of students.

Badminton player Saina Nehwal was among those who attended the ceremony. Mr. Sisodia said the Delhi Government would shortly release its comprehensive vision document about the status of education in the Capital, in which sports would be given the top priority.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the State Government would ask all of its colleges to provide details about sports infrastructure on their campuses.
