Speech telecast does not go down too well with the AAP

September 03, 2014 08:19 am | Updated April 20, 2016 03:18 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Centre’s order to telecast Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in schools on Teachers’ Day has not gone down too well with the Aam Aadmi Party, which described the move as one aimed at creating needless controversy.

According to the AAP, even though Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani has said watching the telecast of the speech will be voluntary for students, the advisory issued to States about making necessary arrangements for the telecast has led to confusion.

“We are of the clear view that there is nothing wrong in the Prime Minister engaging with the students, but it could have been planned and certainly implemented in a much better way,” a statement issued by the party said.
