Two persons barged into the CPI(M) head office in New Delhi on Wednesday and shouted slogans against the Left, ahead of a press conference by party general secretary Sitaram Yechury.
They were caught by security personnel and CPI(M) workers and handed over to the police.
The two were taken to Mandir Marg police station, a police officer told The Hindu just outside the CPI(M) office. The police said they were verifying their claim of belonging to the ‘Hindu Sena’ group. “They said they’re members of the Hindu Sena. They were questioned at the Mandir Marg police station. We are also probing the reason behind their act. Appropriate action will be taken against them,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) B.K. Singh.
Addressing the press after the incident, Mr. Yechury rubbished speculations that he was manhandled.

“Nobody reached anywhere near me. Two persons were shouting slogans as I was entering the conference hall. The cameramen blocked the way,” he said with a smile, looking at cameramen who had swarmed the entrance as soon as loud voices were heard.

“They shouted slogans of ‘CPI (M) Murdabad’, ‘Yechury Murdabad’ and ‘Go to Pakistan’,” said a CPI (M) worker, who claimed they were right-wing activists.
