The pass percentage in the Delhi Government schools in the Class XII CBSE examinations recorded a one per cent increase in comparison to last year and went up from 87.72 per cent to 88.65 per cent. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said on Monday that this established that education imparted by the Delhi Government schools is both excellent and qualitative. She congratulated all the students, parents, teachers and the Education Department over the results in the government schools.
While the Directorate of Education (DOE) has been paying due attention to students by adopting the latest interactive methods of teaching and continuous evaluation of students, Ms. Dikshit said the real credit for the improvement in results goes to the principal, teachers and the officers of the DOE.
The number of government schools that recorded 100 per cent result has gone up from 78 to 109; and more than 500 schools achieved 90 per cent and above as against 352 schools last year; and the number of students who appeared for the exam and passed increased to 17,658 and 16,781 respectively.
Noting that girls have once again outshone boys in the Delhi region, Ms. Dikshit said that the pass percentage of girls in Delhi region is 91.42 per cent as against that of boys at 82.44 per cent.
The improvement of results in Capital region is 1.38 per cent.
The result of the Delhi Government schools is better than the Government schools in all other cities, she said.
In the Delhi Government schools the pass percentage was 88.65 per cent, whereas Panchkula was second with 85.32 per cent and Chennai third with 64.68 per cent.
In addition, the pass percentage of Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalayas in Delhi was 99.05 per cent which was better than the Kendriya Vidyalays of the Capital at 97.56 per cent. Similarly the pass percentage of RPVVs of Delhi was 8 percentage points better than the 91.88 per cent achieved by public schools in Delhi. Four RPVVs of Delhi in Dwarka, Rohini, Gandhi Nagar and Suraj Mal Vihar find place among the 100 best schools in the NCR.
