Retrieved land to be allotted for development projects

As a result of a massive demolition exercise over the last two months, the Delhi Government has retrieves 70 bighas of gram sabha land that were under encroachment across different villages in South Delhi.

Worth Rs.100 crore

The government has now decided to allot these land, worth Rs.100 crore, to different agencies demanding land for development projects.

“Boundary walls are being constructed to prevent re-encroachment of the retrieved land. They are being offered to government departments for construction of public facilities like schools, hospitals, dispensaries, parks, playgrounds and anganwari centres,” District Magistrate (South) Niharika Rai said.

Unscrupulous elements

She added that for the benefit of the people, it is advisable that they get ownership ascertained before buying land to avoid duping by unscrupulous elements.

The retrieved lands are located in Jonapur, Maidan Garhi, Chhattarpur, Ayanagar and Asola villages.
