Gone are those days when students would eagerly linger around school campuses in anticipation of results. With results being announced online and SMS doing the rounds, students are saved from the nervous moments spent in looking for their results on the notice boards.

In several of the leading public schools this year, students of Class XII as well as notice boards with lists of results were conspicuously absent.

“Many students are constantly in touch with teachers over the phone but hardly any come to school to check their results,” explained Anju Tandon, principal of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan.

Additionally there were apps like exametc, school9 and allexamresults are available on Google Playstore which alerts users on their results based on information previously stored by them.

Raghav Gupta , a Class XII student of Army Public School Dhaula Khan said: “There are school wise lists available online to check the results so we don’t have to go to the schools even to compare our grades with our friends.’

While results can be known at the click of a button, the anticipation and discussion on online forums and social networking sites starts days ago. “Facebook updates and discussions on WhatsApp groups kept me updated about everyone's results. First thing I did after seeing I had scored 97 per cent was post on Facebook to share the news with friends and family,” said a cheerful Grusha Agarwal, a student of Apeejay School, Pitampura.

Beat reporters had a tough time on Saturday when Prof. Yogendra Yadav resigned from the Political Affairs Committee of the Aam Aadmi Party. The problems started because of rumours which suggested that he has resigned from the party.

Rumours were so dominant that party spokesman and Delhi unit secretary Dilip Pandey was quick to clarify that Prof. Yadav had not resigned and he was still with the party.

The state of confusion dispelled only when Mr. Yadav tweeted that rumours about his quitting the AAP were baseless. “I am very much with the party and committed to working for it harder than ever,” he said. Interestingly party convenor Arvind Kejriwal re-tweeted this tweet.

Almost three years after the Delhi metro reserved the first coach of its trains for women, men have now made their peace with this and most of them do not get into that compartment. One reason for this could also be that it is punishable with a fine of Rs. 500. However, the Delhi Metro does allow persons with disability (PwD) to enter the ladies coach. But last week a couple of women were seen arguing with a PwD over his presence in the women's coach.

When he argued that he had the right to sit there as he is visually impaired, they started questioning the fact. The man, annoyed with their insensitive behaviour got furious and shouted back at them. The argument that started like a normal discussion snowballed into a major confrontation and finally a person from the Central Industrial Security Forces had to intervene in the matter. He came and took the person out of the train, called his relatives and it was only then that the women were pacified.
