Ramlila Maidan, which served as the venue for the 12-day-long fast by anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare, resembled a shadow of its former self on Sunday evening with garbage and filth left strewn all around after the fast ended and the crowds moved out earlier in the day.
Empty and partially-filled water bottles, biscuit packets, food packets, cartons, banana peels and dirty carpets, among others, were seen lying all over the ground. The kitchen —‘Anna Ki Rasoi' — set up at one corner of the ground, which was delivering free lunches to people who assembled to support Mr. Hazare, too added to the littering. Cooked rice, curry, chopped vegetables, spices were strewn near the kitchen.
During Mr. Hazare's fast, the ground was cleaned by volunteers and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi employees at regular intervals.
