Delhi woke up to its third consecutive day of rain with the day seeing heavy traffic jams and flooded roads. On a positive note, the rain also provided relief from the hot and humid weather that the city had been experiencing through the week.

The rain gauges at Safdurjung metro station measured 0.6 mm of rainfall in the 24-hour period beginning 8-30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The weather office said Delhi can expect rain over the next couple of days too.

“Delhi received a total of 25.1 mm of rainfall in the last three days. The minimum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 25.8 degree Celsius, a degree below normal.’’

Meanwhile, water logging caused traffic jams at a number of places across the city, including ITO, Laxmi Nagar, Kashmere Gate, South Extension, Ashram Chowk, Moolchand underpass, Nehru Place and Dhaula Kuan.

Traffic snarls were also reported from various areas including Moti Bagh, Badarpur, Saket, Ganesh Chowk and on the flyover near AIIMS. Vehicular movement was slow at India Gate, Rafi Marg, Kalkaji, Jangpura, Mehrauli, Mahipalpur and Janakpuri among other places due to rain and subsequent water-logging.
