The Delhi Police, along with Panchkula Police, on Tuesday, conducted a raid at a house in south Delhi in an attempt to arrest Honeypreet Insan but failed to find her there. She has allegedly been on the run ever since Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Insan was convicted in two rape cases in August.

Non-bailable warrant

The Panchkula Police approached the Delhi Police early on Tuesday morning seeking local support in conducting the raid at a house in Greater Kailash, which the police said is a property owned by the Dera Sacha Sauda.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Romil Baaniya said that the raid was conducted at 7:30 a.m. at A9 in Greater Kailash Enclave. “The Panchkula Police were here to execute a non-bailable warrant issued by a Panchkula Court. We extended local police cooperation. The place was raided but she wasn’t found there,” he said.

The police said that when they reached the fully-furnished house, only the caretaker, R.K. Malhotra, was found there. Honeypreet Insan alias Priyanka Taneja, the adopted daughter of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Insan, is one of the 43 wanted persons in the list issued by Haryana Police for the violence that followed the Dera chief’s conviction.
